# Ecclesiae
> The ECCLESIAE project investigates the rise and expansion of early Christianity as an urban phenomenon across key ancient Mediterranean centers. It employs a comparative, city-by-city approach, utilizing theories of emergence, social network analysis, and social identity theory to understand the religious, intellectual, and social forms of these early communities. The project aims to provide a fresh social narrative by integrating historical evidence with social science models to explore how Christian groups emerged and diffused within the urban "ecology" of cities like Rome, Corinth, and Ephesus. Through publications and video essays, ECCLESIAE seeks to offer insights into the distinct local expressions and social identities of early Christians.
